Ministries & Serving: Living Our Faith Together

"Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe." — John 20:25

Like our patron, St. Thomas, many of us encounter moments of doubt, uncertainty, or a feeling that we need to "see and touch" to truly connect. Saint Thomas teaches us that faith is an active journey. When Jesus appeared to him, He didn't turn Thomas away for his questions; instead, He invited him closer, saying, "Put your finger here and see my hands... Do not be unbelieving, but believe" (John 20:27).

In our parish ministries, we become the hands and feet of Christ for one another. When we serve—whether by welcoming a new family, teaching our youth, or helping behind the scenes—we help others "see and touch" the tangible love of Jesus in our community. You don't need to have perfect faith to serve; rather, it is often through serving that our faith comes alive and we, like St. Thomas, can confidently declare, "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:28).

ST. THOMAS MINISTRIES

Below, you can learn more about the different ministries at St. Thomas and even join those groups to start a conversation with Ministry Leadership.  We hope you will consider serving alongside us as we support the work that the Lord is doing in our Parish and in the greater Seattle Community.  If there are more than two groups showing, don't forget to scroll down.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

The St. Thomas St. Vincent de Paul conference is one of the parish's most active expressions of the Gospel in action. Rooted in the Catholic tradition of direct person-to-person service, Vincentians at St. Thomas respond to requests from neighbors in need — providing emergency food assistance, help with utility bills, clothing, and a compassionate presence to those who are struggling. Every act of assistance is offered with dignity and fraternal charity.

Other Outreach Ministries

Beyond St. Vincent de Paul, St. Thomas supports additional outreach efforts including parish food drives, participation in Seattle's Catholic Community Services network, and seasonal charitable campaigns during Advent and Lent. Parishioners are invited to volunteer their time or donate goods to support these efforts year-round — no special skills are required, only a generous spirit.

"Whether you have an afternoon a month or a deeper commitment to give, our outreach ministries welcome your heart and your hands."
